Vermont’s civil union law requires the Secretary of State’s office to provide town clerks with a publication to give to people who apply for a civil union licenses. This pamphlet includes information about the benefits, protections and responsibilities of a civil union and it points out that Vermont  residency is required for dissolution of a Vermont civil union.
